Most men do not commit violence against women. But all men have a role in ending it. If we all start by making a pledge never to commit, condone or remain silent about men’s violence against women in all its forms, that will make a huge difference.
Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club support White Ribbon Scotland to eliminate violence against women and girls.

The club are delighted to have been recognised by the Scottish Football Association as the ‘Best Community Football Club’.
Committee members John Sime (left) and Dave Kelly (right) were presented with the award by Scotland manager Steve Clarke at the annual awards ceremony at Hampden Park.
The annual Scottish FA grassroots awards presented by McDonald’s and the Sunday Mail aim to recognise and reward people across the country that make a difference to grassroots football in their local community.
The awards are split into regional and national categories and grassroots clubs, coaches and volunteers from any of the six Scottish FA regions can be nominated.
The ‘Best Community Football Club’ award is a national award given to a Football Club which has shown strong growth and progress both on and off the field.
Speaking after the award, Trish Sime, Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club’s Development Manager said:
“The club are absolutely delighted to receive this award as it recognises the efforts of all the players, coaches, parents, volunteers and committee members as we strive to make our club better. We are rightly proud of the direction we are going and are now more than ‘just’ a football club as we have initiatives in mental health, with old folk, with youngsters, mums and dads and this is just the start.”
General Manager’s Welcome
““We’re one but we’re not the same””
Let me wish you a very warm welcome from everyone at Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club.
The ever changing climate and pressures on local authorities to maintain sport and leisure services led Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club to redefine what’s possible for a football club in terms of community engagement through the power of football. Our club taking the needs of the local community has become the leading stakeholder in delivering Mental Health education. Becoming a leading player linking and working with our local partners delivering Foodbanks and facilitating events for the elderly. We believe we are truly a key part of the fabric of the Community we live and work in.
The journey continues.
Our membership currently boasts >500 players (boys & girls combined) with over 80 qualified coaches fully covered by Disclosure Scotland. We currently operate boys squads at under 6’s, 7’s & 8,s participating in soccer 4’s and 5’s. Soccer 7’s at under 9’s, 10’s, 11’s with 9 a sides for our under 12’s.
We progress to 11-a-side teams at under 13’s, 14’s, 15’s, 16’s &17’s.
Our girls section operates from U9s to U15s just now.
The success story of Bonnyrigg Rose Youth section continues both on and off the park as does our growth. We work closely with The Bonnyrigg Rose Football Academy who prepare and recruit our Under 6 intake for transition from the Academy community coaching programmes into the youth section. This way of working has proved to be successful over the last 7 years.
Our no.1 motivation & key objective which drives and shapes the ethos of the Bonnyrigg Rose Community Club is to provide a clean, modern, safe place where everyone can enjoy playing football in fun learning environment – for us, this is at the very heart of what we do. We believe that letting kids play football in groups of similar ability is the way forward both for children’s development and enjoyment.
We recognise that children develop at different stages and at different paces and age/maturity are a big factor at the early stages…”we’re one but we’re not the same”
We aim to provide a place where children can develop and learn to play football in a fun and supportive environment.
It is our hope that everyone will enjoy playing the game at a level appropriate to their abilities, the best they can achieve and enjoy.
Another of our key aims is to develop good people, to teach young people core values such as respect for each other, to work hard and embrace new challenges. For us it’s about playing our part in helping to develop good people.
Across the whole club we work closely with the SFA. The youth section plays a leading part in helping the club maintain its prestigious SFA Platinum quality mark. This is awarded to clubs who excel in their coaching standards, football development and their wider contribution to the local community. This recognition acknowledges our club as one of the most modern and leading Community clubs within Scotland. It is something we are proud to be part of.
At youth level our club genuinely believes it’s not the winning that counts but ensuring we provide the best development of our players at all levels.
I would like to take this opportunity to give thanks to all the volunteers across the Community Club for their continued commitment, effort and support. To those who are new to the Community Club, enjoy the journey.
Remember; this is your club so let’s make it work – ““We’re one but we’re not the same””
