Welcome

More Than a Football Club

At Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club, football is only part of the story.

From our home at Poltonhall Recreation Grounds, we support people of all ages through sport, wellbeing and community activity. Every week, local people come through our doors for football, fitness, youth work, wellbeing support, lunch clubs, creative activities and social connection.

We are proud to be a trusted part of the community — creating opportunities, reducing isolation and providing a safe, welcoming space for everyone.

Supporting Positive Mental Health

Mental wellbeing is at the heart of our community work.

Working alongside partners including Health in Mind, local schools and trained counsellors, we provide:

  • 1-to-1 support for adults, children and families
  • Peer support opportunities
  • Mental health awareness and wellbeing sessions
  • Weekly wellbeing activities and safe social spaces
  • Mental Health First Aid training

We know that people often reach out during difficult moments, which is why early support, compassion and connection matter so much.

Bringing People Together

Community connection is central to everything we do.

Through our Community Hub we provide:

  • Weekly lunch clubs for older residents
  • Walking groups and peer support networks
  • Fitness and movement sessions for all ages
  • Youth and family activities
  • Children’s creative and singing sessions
  • Support for local families and community groups

We work closely with volunteers, local organisations and partner agencies to help reduce loneliness and ensure people feel connected and supported.

Helping Young People Thrive

We support young people both on and off the pitch.

Alongside football, our programmes provide:

  • Weekly youth groups
  • Early intervention and mentoring support
  • Inclusive activities for young people needing extra support
  • Volunteering and employability opportunities
  • Coaching pathways and SFA qualifications
  • Practical learning opportunities and confidence building

Our aim is simple — to give every young person a positive, safe and encouraging place to grow.

Supporting Local People

Our community work goes beyond organised activities.

We regularly work alongside local partners to help individuals and families facing financial hardship, mental health challenges, social isolation and other difficult circumstances.

By working together with schools, community groups, support organisations and local services, we aim to provide practical help when it is needed most.

Affordable & Accessible

We work hard to remove barriers to participation.

Wherever possible, our activities are free or low cost, ensuring everyone has the opportunity to take part regardless of circumstance.

We are also proud to be recognised as a Disability Confident Committed organisation, reinforcing our commitment to accessibility and inclusion.

Looking Ahead

We remain committed to growing our community programmes and developing new opportunities that support wellbeing, inclusion and connection across Bonnyrigg and Midlothian.

Our focus is on creating sustainable community spaces and activities that continue to meet local needs and bring people together.

Working Together

We proudly work alongside a wide range of partners including the Scottish FA, Midlothian Council, Active Schools, Health in Mind, local schools, community police, volunteers and local community organisations across Midlothian.

Together, we are building a healthier, stronger and more connected community.
