The 5 Bs
Bonnyrigg Rose Community Football Club provides football opportunities for players at all ages and stages of the game, from children trying football for the first time through to recreational and performance football.
With over 800 players currently involved in the club, including more than 200 players in our girl’s section, we are proud to be one of the largest and most inclusive Community Football Clubs in the area.
Our teams train and play matches at our home facilities at Poltonhall and surrounding areas, with players progressing through a clear development pathway across the club.
Our Why
Our purpose is simple:
To help every player develop a lifelong love for the game.
We aim to create a positive football environment where players enjoy their experience, build friendships and develop confidence both on and off the pitch.
Our Mission
Our mission is built around a simple belief:
Players who love to play football will love to learn to play football.
By creating enjoyable and challenging environments we support players to grow, develop and stay involved in football for as long as they choose.
Player Journey
The first stage of the player journey is our Play Phase programme, The Wee Rosey Posey, where players begin their football experience from 4 to 8 years of age. This programme introduces boys and girls to football through fun, engaging sessions focused on enjoyment, movement and developing a love for the game.
Players then progress into 7 a side football, continuing their development through 9 a side and 11 a side teams as they move through the youth pathway.
The club provides a complete football pathway for both boys and girls, supporting players whether their goal is simply to enjoy the game with friends or to develop within a more challenging performance environment.
Players can ultimately progress through the club pathway to our senior teams including:
The Bonnyrigg Rose Women’s Team
The Bonnyrigg Rose Athletic F.C. Men’s First Team
Performance Pathways
For players looking to challenge themselves further, the club also provides performance pathways within both the boys and girls sections.
These programmes support player development within environments aligned with:
The Club Academy Scotland pathway
SWF Youth performance programme
These environments provide additional support, coaching and opportunities for players with aspirations to progress within the game.
Inclusive Football
We are committed to making football accessible for everyone in our community.
Our programmes include:
Autism Football, providing a supportive and inclusive football environment for players with autism.
The 5Bs of Bonnyrigg
Everything we do across the club is guided by the 5Bs of Bonnyrigg, which represent the values we expect from our players, coaches and families:
Be Honest
Be a Team Player
Be Respectful
Be Resilient
Be You
These values help create a positive culture where players can enjoy football, develop confidence and represent the club with pride.
If you or your son or daughter would like to join our club then please complete the form on the JOIN US page.
Our teams are typically very popular and so some years, especially the younger ones, have to operate a waiting list.
